05 - Ideas For School Magazine

Due to technical faults, Emily and I were able to focus totally on the ideas and making of our School Magazine. The element of our magazine we're focusing on is sport and healthy lifestyle, we decided to use this due to the focus on the Olympics that are being held in London this year and to continue to push for more recognition around the school. We focused on taking pictures of the school sports teams wall, showing sporting talent in the school, also Amy Mullett, who has played football for England. Lastly, of Mr Diggle, head of drama at Southfield School who will feature in our 'day in the life of..' teachers interview.

Our main ideas include including the Cucina menu, which is what many people wanted to see including our year 7 focus group and the male students interviewed. We will also include the promotional canteen food going on at the moment due to Chinese New Year as this is what our focus group wanted to see. They wanted us to include the menu and what was happening in the canteen. This will also focus on healthy eating and educating students on how to eat well, especially when coming to sport.

Our other idea for our double page spread includes sporting achievements, which is also an aspect our focus groups all wanted to see. We will include an interview with Amy Mullett, who has represented England at youth level and is a student at the school, this will show people what students in the school have achieved and continue to motivate students to participate in sports. All of our focus groups wanted us to include how people are doing and considering our school is a sports college this is perfect. This will also continue to give lower school students something to look up too and aim for creating an overall good attitude towards sport.

Finally, our last idea for our double page spread is an interview with Mr Diggle, who is head of drama. This is to add to the initial idea of teacher interviews and 'a day in the life of..' to add to the humour factors of the magazine.
