30 - Risk Assessment

Looking at the photos I have orginally taken to gain an idea of what I would like to achieve, I can now think about taking my photos for the final magazine. I have many ideas of what I want to achieve and how I want them to look. Before I do this however, I must complete a risk assessment. Even though this may seem over cautious, it's essential to allow people remain safe and it runs smoothly allowing me to get the best possible result.

Risk

Solution
Being near roads; the cars will be hazards
Looking out and being careful for oncoming cars, make sure there is constant concentration
Working outside; it may be cold
Make sure people have enough clothing if out working for a long time
If needed, you have peoples permission to take photos of them in certain destinations
Contact and ask people in advance for their permission agreeing terms and ensuring they are happy with what you are doing.
Tripping up or falling over on uneven ground or in places with hard to see hazards
Be aware of the hazards before starting and make sure people are fully concentrating throughout to prevent injury
If working near grass and there has been rain or dew, the ground may be slippy
Make sure correct footwear is warn to enable enough grip
The USB lead for the camera, the wires may have broken and be showing
Double check before each use to maintain its in good condition
Rain may effect the equipment as it may get water damaged
If it’s raining, be sure if it’s the best time to take your pictures, re-arrange if needed.

This is an example of a risk assessment I may use, if I change the location I take pictures at, I may need to adjust this in different senarios slightly.
